When the world seeks beauty from music & poetry in tandem with itself, a glimpse of this ‘seeking’ lies in Sameer’s work.
His love for packing his music alongside travel is internally motivated. He absconds away with influences & inspirations. Sometimes they ink in Rabindranath Tagore’s pages, sometimes swung into Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s charm. At times they draw from the eyes of Guru Dutts & Spielbergs, in their ways of storytelling and deciphering human behavior in his songs.
A child was born in a cradle, which was music. While every genre is inspiring to a true aesthete, electronica happened to be his first love. His experimentations with music production kickstarted his journey at the age of 12. Over years he molded and transformed many parts of him & created Joshish, an Urdu progressive rock ensemble. Performing as a vocalist, bass player and songwriter, Sameer has taken the band all across India over the last 10 years. Now, you will find him in one busy corner of Mumbai, doing music composition and production handled at his studios for a diverse mix of artists, under the banner, Baqsa Studios. Sameer has designed scores for many short films running in various film festivals across the globe. He has also been persistently composing music for advertisements, having to work with brands like, Ajinomoto, Netflix, Colgate, Samsung, Kurkure, OLX and M.P. Tourism to name a few, with his formal education in film-making proving invaluable to both. In communion, his music has exalted to the poetry running in his blood. Sameer was born to the celebrated poets, Rahat Indori and Anjum Rehbar and thus he also pursues writing poems, prose and lyrics along the way.
Currently his solo music project that features collaborations with visual artists, poets, dancers and musicians from the world over, devours him completely.
‘Duniyadari’, the debut album is scheduled to come out in mid ‘17.
